11-15th August 2017 (Friday-Tuesday) - Arabian Horse Gala 2017 - Horse Studs at Janów Podlaski, Michałów and Białka - Poland.
Since 1970, each year in mid-August, Arabian horse breeders and enthusiasts from around the world have been coming to Janów Podlaski, for what is considered the World's Premier Arabian Horse Auction. The 'Pride of Poland' Auction itself is a part of a larger annual event called 'Arabian Horse Gala'.
This year’s Arabian Horse Gala promises to be extremely impressive due to the Jubilee celebrated by the Janów Podlaski Horse Stud. The 200th anniversary of its existence is a great opportunity to riotously celebrate and highlight the role played by the Stud in the Arabian horses tradition and breeding in Poland.
The Janów Podlaski Horse Stud, established in 1817, the oldest state-owned and operated horse stud in Poland, is also one of the most beautiful. Despite the name, the stud is situated two kilometers from Janów itself, in a village called Wygoda. Picturesquely set amidst lush meadows along the border river Bug, Janów Podlaski is undeniably a true "equine paradise". Although the breeding of purebred Arabians has been primarily responsible for Janów Podlaski's fame worldwide, the Stud's many achievements within the realm of Anglo-Arabian breeding are also worthy of recognition.
Major parts of the Arabian Horse Gala:
- 11-14th August (Friday-Monday) - Polish National Pure Arabian Horses Show, the Pride of Poland Auction and the Summer Arabian Horse Auction - Janów Podlaski Horse Stud,
- 15th August (Tuesday) - Open Days at Michałów and Białka Horse Studs.
The August auction determines the rhythm of studs' life, dividing the year into two periods: "before auction" and "after auction". However, horses can be purchased at studs throughout the whole year.
